Home/Blog / Porcelain Veneers: What Kind Is Right for Me?

Our world-famous New York City cosmetic dentist – Michael Kosdon, DDS – has helped countless patients achieve their ideal smile with top quality dental veneers. Most of the time, patients come to Dr. Kosdon with lots of questions concerning which material they should pick, what color their veneers should be, how translucent their veneers should look, and beyond. And that’s great! Dr. Kosdon is always happy to help patients better understand what they can expect from treatment.

Although specific recommendations will be made during your consultation, Dr. Kosdon prefers to use e.max® or feldspathic porcelain to build veneers. E.max® generally offers a more opaque finish, while feldspathic porcelain usually provides greater translucence; that said, the final result may depend on the veneer’s thickness and the color of the underlying tooth.

Your personalized experience begins at your first meeting with Dr. Kosdon, where he will address your concerns, perform a cosmetic evaluation, and create a custom smile design plan. He will consider all aspects of your appearance (e.g. your hair color, facial features, skin tone, and face shape) along with your personality, lifestyle, and smile goals. Using advanced 3D imaging and digital photography, Dr. Kosdon will guide you in selecting the ideal shade, thickness, and shape for each veneer, focusing on durability, cost, and a natural appearance. You’ll even have the opportunity to preview a digital rendering of your porcelain veneers before finalizing the plan.
